Ook twee Nederlanders maken kans op een Academy Award. Cameraman Hoyte van Hoytema is genomineerd voor zijn bijdrage aan Dunkirk en de Nederlandse make-upartiest Arjen Tuiten maakt kans op een Oscar voor de film Wonder.
James Franco
James Franco is overgeslagen door de leden van de Academy. Hij maakte op voorhand een grote kans op een Oscar door zijn prachtige rol in The disaster artist. Franco won eerder dit jaar een Golden Globe voor die rol, maar raakte onlangs in opspraak in de #metoo-affaire.
